Challenge Project
Cities
Citymaking through participatory modeling
Participatory city models that help residents, community groups, and policymakers reason about uncertain causes and policy consequences.
Overview
Cities focuses on participatory modeling for urban systems. The project aims to build digital representations of cities that incorporate local knowledge, uncertain cause-and-effect relationships, and existing domain models so that people can explore policy scenarios more directly.
The goal is to give residents, community groups, and policymakers better tools for reasoning about questions in areas such as rezoning, street life, public services, transportation, budgeting, and other citymaking processes.
Collaboration
We are interested in working with design partners engaged in civic processes and engineering partners who have existing models of city systems that could benefit from stronger inference and reasoning tools.
