Sam Earle
Postdoctoral Fellow, Basis Research Institute
Sam Earle is a postdoctoral fellow at Basis, working with Zenna Tavares and Kevin Ellis at Cornell. His work seeks to synthesize processes of intrinsic motivation in open-ended simulations: both in terms of how embodied agents explore the world and how new worlds may be generated to provide interesting challenges for these agents. He completed his PhD at NYU’s Game Innovation Lab under the supervision of Julian Togelius, where he studied procedural content generation in video games through the lens of morphogenesis, and emergent complexity within designer-player feedback loops.
